The weight in the upper left corner is what I'm thinking it should look like when the fan is off or first starting, am I correct?

That's correct; the centrifugal weights will be at their innermost position. Not quite as "in" as in your photo as the starting contact has to fit under the tip of the weights. As the fan gains speed the weights move out rather quickly to the outermost position.

Adam: I mailed your springs today - those that are on it now don't look to have the same tension. Just remember to cut these to the correct length - I hope you have at least one of the original springs to go by? Let me know how they work .

Got it :) I'm sure I can get it right when the new springs come because I know the concept. Roughly how much space do you think is needed for the contact to fit?

Actually, no I dont but after talking to John I'm hoping I can get it right. if anyone can send me a pic of what the switch looks like with the proper tension that would help alot.
