Last saterday went out shopping and came up with new projects. There is a Viking, Packard powered window fan.It runs but the cabinet is in rough shape.I also got an Emerson,GE pedistel,Dominion,an 10 inch GE, a Hunter/Century and finally a Kmart box fan.Somebody didn't like Emerson cause there is a bullit hole in one of the blades.

I found this 16" all metal GE at the local flea market. I talked it down from $24.00 to $8.00. It runs and oscillates like a champ, but has a heavy blade vibration. This will be a good way to try out Randy's new strobe light to re-clock the blades.

Michael,   Nice finds.  Have a 12" GE pedestal just like that and is a great daily runner.  Only issue it has is trying to keep up with the Emersons..........:P:P

Michael...............

That fan with the 22 caliber bullet hole?

You have found the famous William Poteet marksmanship fan.  He used this fan to entertain crowds as part of his shooting show.  One wing of the blade would be marked with a piece of tape.  The fan would be turned on and then from 100 feet marksman Poteet would shoot the blade that was marked.   Then he would fire 5 more shots.  Each would pass through the same hole!

Yep...........this is a lot of BS . . . but it would make a good story about your fan.

Terry, that sounds like a great story for Myth Busters. They could solicit John McComas' help with a strobe, then set up a high speed camera to watch the bullits hit or miss or slide right through.

Good idea Dave but McComas would probably charge too much.  You know how expensive real good talent is.

Here...now I can play to.  I went to Menards today to get a septic tank lid riser and came home with these instead. :pacifier:  I found a date on these Westys of 12/11/32.  So I guess they're from 32...Style 802628? :wondering:  Funny thing...2 fans...three sets of brackets...4 blades...no drop rods or canopies....go figure. :idea  Well...if anything this will take JERRY F. BACON of DALLAS, TEXAS back to his good old 6 flag days. :tumbs Jerry is probably three sheets to the wind right now and can't get out of his lazy boy. :tease

Ya...the fans come loaded with grease, dirt, loads of Stephen's patina, and don't forget the smucked switches!  Menards wants you to feel like your fan is a thing of the past.

This fan was originally a city government fan and it has a bronze inventory tag on the neck, and I surmised that the oval steel wafer was tacked on to ensure that nobody could take the oscillator apart? You know how governments don't like people meddling with their property.

Found this on my doorstep a couple of days ago. It came from some guy named Rick Hoener. I think it's a bribe in exchange to learn my painting secrets.
Well Rick, Thank you so much for the nice fan but, I'll never give up my secrets on how I manage to make a mess out of a simple paint job, you'll have to ask Kim how I do it. Besides, truthfully I don't have a clue.

No, Rick didn't paint it. It's all original except for the cord someone else put on it.

Your photo needs to be a bit brighter and the fan should be at a bit more of an angle to give your photo better composition. Oh! and the switch is wrong.*

At first I thought it was an Asian knockoff, since I found it behind my favorite Chinese restaurant, looking for some Sesame Chicken for supper.  Asian dumpsters are the best, because all the cats keep the rat population down.

Ron,

You won't believe this, but I gave that fan to Rick and someone else (who shall remain nameless) gave it to me! Talk about re-gifting run amuck, maybe I'll get it back one day.

Hope you enjoy it.

These are cool multi-purpose fans! When the sand runs out you just flip it over...

Or when it is steamed properly, the shells open and you eat the insides with melted butter...yum!!

I also think that the cage is wrong, the blade is wrong, the motor is wrong, definitely the base is wrong, I think the oscillating wheel, transmission and arm are wrong and the power cord is wrong...but I'll take it anyway...:D Paint needs to be compounded out and shined up a little too...you know how the paint wears over the yearz!
