Upon disassembling a Westinghouse #517723 B I found a spacer between the blade hub and the front bearing. Having come across this before I wondered if this was normal manufacturer routine. Most other fans locate needed spacers between the rotor and the rear bearing. Did some makers opt to put them outside instead of the usual place, or has someone else disassembled this fan before and simply found left over parts and didn't know where they went?

TJ, I'm unsure about Westinghouse but, I have found that other manufacturers have put a fiber washer between the bearing and the blade hub, usually the models that the blade hub runs inside the bearing hub partially. Usually blade hubs with oil channels in them.

Hows that pinstripping coming, need any more? Would like to see some pics of what you've done via email if you wish.

Thanks for the info Ron. The pin striping is getting better, but not anything to brag about. It is as you said, "Practice, Practice, Practice."

I have also seen fiber washers between the blade hub and front bearing and suspect it is used to eliminate a potential metal (hub) to metal (bearing) scenario once things like other internal washers wear out. Just my opinion.......
