| I replaced a damaged head wire on my Emerson 19644 which was running fine. After reassembly, the fan no longer runs (guess I should have left it alone). This is my first attempt at this sort of thing and I would appreciate help diagnosing the problem. I'm afraid I may have damaged the windings, or maybe I just reconnected it incorrectly. Again, I'm a novice and any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mel

Mel, We'll need a few photos of your wiring job to properly diagnose it. And does it hum any, did it smoke any, if so how many packs a day? No, just kidding on that one. But you get the picture.

Hello Ron et al:
I've attached some pictures of the rewiring I've attempted to do. Not sure if they will help diagnose the problem. I've rechecked the connections which all appear to be solid. I marked the head wires to be sure they were reattached correctly, but still no good. I get no noise, smoke, anything when I plug it in. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Mel

You need to make sure there is not a problem with the old connections. I can see where the wires were attached before, that all needs to be thoroughly checked. I would cut out the old splices and make new connections. Also you should use shrink tubing to cover the new connections. You could also have a problem with your switch connections or the coil could be bad on the switch. It could also be that you power cord has a problem or the AC connections on the bottom of the switch has some type of problem.

| I agree with Steve, sounds to me like its somehow not getting power. It should at least hum or worse case pop and spark which would mean it shorted out. If its not doing anything its probably not getting power somewhere

You need to host your photos from somewhere like photobucket, flickr, etc. Then you all you do is copy and paste the IMG code from where the photo is being hosted.
