Hello every one in here. I have recently aquired 2 GE pancake fans and they both work. but one of them that I can tell only has 3 or 4 definate speeds. I would like to know if anyone here can walk me through on how to get them all to work properly, with pictures or email. the other one has some screws missing where the arms hold on to the cage.and the knobe that would turn the speed dial as well. I dont know if this is anything of a major concern to anyone but I dont think it could hurt to ask. I am new here and this is my first posting. I hope i can get all the answers I need to help me with these 2 fans. and last but not least what is your input on the cosmetic part of them? should I leave them alone or clean them up to shine? oh yeah this one picture is just like the one I have but the other i dont have a picture of it. but it is not on a yoke mount, it is just a stationary fan and It has the full flutted base with ribs on it. I hope I did good on the eplaining . please let me know what I can and should do. thank you all.
OK everyone so here is the situation... I have the pictures... I know this is anoying having to click each one but i could not find another solution sorry.

this is the original one.

this is the one that I can only notice 3 or 4 speeds on it but it looks to have been tamperd with. should I do it my self?
I need like 4 original screws for this one. and how much would it cost to replace them?
ah yes I know this is not original.. but how much would it cost to get an original yoke mount screw for this fan? and if you saw the both of them its the one to the right.
I need an original or duplicate for the speed knob on this one.
this the one that has the one original screw to the fan on the right, and in the other side you will see in another picture of what is there that i dont want to be there.

Go back to your photobucket page and check the little box below each of your photos. Then go all the way down to the bottom of the page and click "generate html and img code" or something just like that, and a new page will open with a variety of options.
Click inside the box that says "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended" and you will get a quick glimpse of a yellow flag that says "copied".
Now, come back to your post, and reply to it. In the message area click "Edit" and "Paste" and all the code will be pasted automatically. Then simply post the reply, and all your photos should appear as thumbnails, and we can open them and see what you have. The size of the photos in your original post is so small I cannot make out any detail.
If you have trouble with the photobucket steps, post the exact problem and I will try to help you.
This photo is a perfect example:

Osvaldo, the fan with the yoke is a 1904 model. The fixed mount (stick mount) fan with all the groves in the base is a rarer 1903 model.
Darryl Hudson can probably provide you with the screws and other pieces you need. Look in the INFO section of this website for his contact information.
I cannot help you with the switch. Both fans were originally 5-speed models. They are both very desirable fans. You did good to acquire them.
Perhaps someone else will answer your question about the speeds.

Paint on the 1904 looks good. The 1903 has a lot of rust and very little paint. I would paint the 1903 so it looks like this.

| ok one question...your fan has 10 spokes on the grill and mine has only 8 spokes my fan, why do you think that is? there both from the same year. do you think mine does not have the original grill to it?Im just making sure that i didn't get a rebuilt fan from different other fans to make up this one. I don't know what do you think? Last edited on Wed Jul 23rd, 2008 01:16 am by Peter Garcia

The photo is of an 06 I restored a few years ago.... if I recall correctly, all five speed pancakes were wired up the same. LOL, yes it says Restored by Christian Benton and has the year... it's in pencil.
I would clean up the switch and coil, but thats just me... my favorite part of any fan restoration is the switch.... I have no idea why.
