Was he a brother.... or a son...... or a cousin to Alex and Chuck?
Tom was the CEO of Emerson for a whopping 2 years after Herbert Parkers 28 year term. Did Herbert Parker bite the big one when Thomas Meston took over from 20-22? And what is with CEO John W. Emerson's big two year term....did he go to see the big guy in the sky as well?
Check it out.

Nailed number two!
In 1892, John W. Emerson retired, selling his interest in Emerson Electric to Herbert L. Parker, a former railroad executive.

Got er in the bag!
In 1920, Herbert Parker was elected chairman of the board and T.M. Meston, the founders' younger brother, became president. Herbert went to see the big guy in the sky in 24.

Ok....you started it. What was Tom up to......another Enron? At first I thought you were jerking my chain. Cyanide huh? This is one you won't find on the Emerson Electric website history. What's with people just telling it like it is? People are more sold on sincerity than any other line of BS.
Could be when Tom found out that Herby Finch and Winter were working behind his back on a better oscillator wheel than Tom and Herby's.........it was more than he could bear?
Cough it up Loren.......what was the scandal?

| He had Diehls installed in the mens' rooms at Emerson. Just kidding, actually,1921 was not a good year for many businesses. Signal was hanging on by a thread and Emerson had a rough time as well. Yet, the uppers at Emerson were getting some mighty fine bonus checks while lessers were losing their jobs.. When I get home, I'll see if there is any indication as to whether Tom was in on it or if he was just another Warren Harding.

Heck, this has been going on where I work since day one. Funny thing is the CEO has no problem going to sleep at night...... let alone pound a cyanide cocktail. Things sure have changed.... huh Loren.

Actually it looks like it was a real dog fight between brother Charles and Brother Tom who was aligned with the Parkers.
In a nutshell:
After WW 1, fan sales down just about 50%. All salaries cut by 10%. King Parker(Herb's brother) is ousted from the board. I think I told you he was his son. Wrong .. brothers.
Herb Parker and Tom held most of the stock and had to take a pay cut. In November of 22, Charles started a revolt against Tom and the other old Emerson folks. He only had 15 % of the stock, so was sort of helpless. Though King Parker was kicked off the board, brother Herbie gets kicked up to chair of the board. There was shifty bookwork showing deceptive profits which resulted in some big bonuses. Charles continues his tirade, but for naught. Little brother kills himself. Herbie who is semi retired, comes back and finishes Tom[s term as pres and Finch gets moved up to GM. Charles finally accepts 7,500 in 1925 in exchange he has to shut up and leave them alone.
On the saddest of notes, if old Tom had held off on the cyanide for just a few weeks. Because things were starting to turn around and by December Emerson was able to resume divident payments on its common stock.
Next story:
Choose either
A. Diehl's wife loses her sight at childbirth
B. Harry Shedd loses his son in law and wife in a frame of just a couple years
c. or the underworld rod toting fan maker(Airplane manufacturing)
They all had some kind of story....didn't they?

This stuff is good. Whenever you read most any of the company historys on the web........ or literature written by the company...you always have the feeling this is to good to be true....and 99.9% of the time your gut instincts are correct. If you search through Emerson patents Charles Meston is like a worm that infested your computer....he's everywhere. Here Tom Meston is holding a chunk of the shares and you hardly know he exists through Google patents. And Chuck sounds like a real gem of a guy to be around. H ell...if I would of been in Tom's shoes... I would of slipped the cyanide in Chuck's morning Wheaties. Thanks Loren.
Tesla was a very complicated man that appeared to be only working for the benefit of his fellow man. Yet.........Tesla was not exempt from dirty laundry.
Tesla displayed the occasional cruel streak; he openly expressed his disgust for overweight people, once firing a secretary because of her weight. He was quick to criticize others' clothing as well, demanding a subordinate to go home and change her dress on several occasions.
