Kind of interesting on the Antique Radio Forum is a monthly post titled June Finds and Losses.

Post photos and information about what you have found this month or have missed getting by a whisker. Limited to pre-1950 fans or related items on this board.
Come July and I will start a new thread (July Finds and Losses). The post on the radio forum seems to be quite popular so let's see if it works here.
I'll start it off with what I found this weekend.
That old dirty big GE is a Form AF (1927-29) and in need of a badge if anyone has one they'll sell me. After turning down the fan for $5 and then $2 I decided it would be worth it to haul home for $1. Brass blade has nicks. But the big guy does run. Will have to clean it up and post a photo. Is the cage original? I thought not at first due to the funny center ring but realized that I may have seen few GEs of this era without their badges. I think it's original but is it?
Second big GE is a 1923 Form AC. Not something I really need as I have a similar one with a painted brass cage but this one, though dirty yesterday at the flea market, was so straight and original looking that I decided I wanted it. I cleaned it up with new oil and wicks yesterday. Also found that the one blade wing was about 1/4" out of clock but was able to remedy that pretty well. The blade still will need to be balanced till smooth but the fan runs great and oscillates so smoothly. I don't think it's had much use in its life. Note the original head and power cords and orig. plug and felt. Fan could use some Q-tip detailing; I just wiped it down well with WD-40 as it was 2/3 as dirty as the other big GE.
The little Whiz is pretty nice with the cord broken off at the base. I haven't tested it yet to see if it will run.
And you've seen my new Emerson 78646-BC, bottom, that was off a ship. Made in 1942, it shows almost no wear and runs like it should on its two speeds. It got new wicks and oil yesterday. I like that fan even though it has no brass to show me some nice patina.
Let's see what you all find or miss getting this month.

| No fan finds but I did adopt a new " fan buddy". Came from the local shelter and he likes to huff paint fumes. We will get along famously. Now if I can just teach him to buff brass. Attached Image (viewed 1035 times):

| Hi Steve, did you find your fans at the Alameda Antiques Fair? My wife was there Sunday, said she saw a few fans including a 6 wing brass blade GE, the only fan she bothered to call me about was a little fan with an octagon cage and base.

Yes, that's where I found my fans. Aren't you guys supposed to stay on the other side of Pacheco Pass? I saw that octogon cage GE and the big 6 wing was a 2-star but not too pristine. A nice fan to restore it would have been. Also saw a very nice 16" Westy tank with beautiful original paint and perfect brass. The guy was asking $325 I think but I heard him mention $290. Maybe if I really wanted one and didn't already have several. This was a big market this month, maybe after being rained out last month. The dirty 16" GE I posted came from our radio swap meet on Saturday. There are always a number of fans but not much, usually, of great interest. But you never know what might turn up.

Alex, how about the ugly duckling on the left? Think of how nice you could make it look and the pride you'd have in returning a duck to a swan.
For your little home you'd need a dog smaller than Kims. These little pups don't have the mass to bring down a fan. I'd love to have one but it's not dog time yet. A big dog in a little dog's body is how they are sometime described.
PS, Alex, save your shillings for a nice GE pancake; you'll be glad you did. Life does not begin and end with the AOU thaough they are nice fans and an interesting collection can be made around all the variations over the years. Oh, and make that a 12" cake.Attached Image (viewed 883 times):

I will take your advice on the cake! My home is small at the mo.. but things will be back to normal some time soon OH yes! By the way how many cats do you have?? I have had 4 cats in my time and 2 dogs! I do miss a companion! especially as I am alone at the mo!

Sorry to hear of your problems. The house is beautiful and the stone construction brings back many memories as I was born not a million miles away from there in Windermere.
A couple more fans can always help. My family are in Chicago mostly so I buy fans for company which is why I have over 400 I guess. Many of them are stumps and need my company too whilst we wait for bits to complete them.

Actually on reflection i suppose that is quit a big question to answer LOL!
Well the up side is that because of being alone and getting over my Mum dying I needed after the house loss and GF split to take my battered mind of things! so I was surfing Ebay one day and found an old Marrelli fan! bought it and then typed VINTAGE ELECTRIC FAN into Ebay and all these great American brass fans came up! So I bought the AOU Rivet handle ... and since then I have been hooked! Well, then, the catalogs you looked at must have a missing page. (I'd better add a here).
Do you know, Steve, if the "dating code" mentioned by one member (forgot who) is valid; that you add 20 to the date code on the motor tag (22 in the case of my Emerson) to get the year built?
I also would think that any special order for the military of a large company might not show up in a catalog. Do you know anything about my fan? It's built very heavy duty looking and runs super smooth and quietly. Made as a wall mount fan that, according to the guy I bought it from, was either made in 1950 or c.1950 or was on or removed from a ship around that date. It was his uncle's a while back but the seller had recently been using it. Glad he wanted to sell it and that I saw it and grabbed a fan from an era that I usually don't bother with much.

It's been a long time since I've been to an auction like the one I attended today. Passed up a few fans, but managed to pick up a couple also. It was cheap entertainment for $50.
Of course I'm always on the lookout for 29646's, but I surprised myself when I hauled home the Emmy box fan. A bonus - they both run great.
The box fan is probably going to Harrison in November. What an air mover. It features an Emerson motor and belt drive to a twin grease cup pillow block. And if the California 'SS' is wondering, it's natural patina is going to be left in tact.

| Peter, that's a very nice June Find. An early Emerson, maybe around 1903-04. Motor tag is nickeled as is your 1010 model. You'll need the blades and blade irons; don't know how hard the irons are to get. Maybe someone has reproduced them? I think you did really well on that motor. It's certainly worth turning it into a fan. Got your photos. Thanks.

I found a good amount of fans this June. I found a 12" 1922 Dayton, a GE quiet blade with the vorty look, a mint 10" Power Aire pedestal, a 10" GE quiet blade, a 16" GE AS1.
Here is a pic of my 1922 Dayton that came from an Estate for $5, thats in mint condition the only thing that is missing is the little cross guard ID tag, If any of you gentlemen have a spare PM me.
Also here is a pic of my Ge quiet blade that came from the same estate for $5 which is also in very good shape.
And last but not least my 10" GE quiet blade that I got at a NY flea market for $20.
BTW guys nice finds.

1909 A-B Jandus wire mount that needs work
POS little westy that I didn't want but needed to buy to get the Jandus
Wonderful GE 49X936 with by far the best original paint I have ever seen.

| I found it at a fleamarket today. Not a fan, but it has a 1930's Westinghouse motor. Made by Central Scientific Company, Cenco Hyvac. I looked on ebay and a few things came up, but nothing that looks as old as this. It has early 1930's patent numbers. Is anybody familiar with this? Attached Image (viewed 552 times):

So far, 4 Hunter CFs; the H-52 and R-52 are on the BST page and I just picked up two 60s Hunter/R&M s with the click stop blade irons. Also this Windee window fan from Chicago. I've never heard of them. Neat design. Torpedo center rotates 180 degrees so it both sucks AND blows.  Double blades and 3 speeds. All of these are headed to ePay.

Check the Emerson for a small printed (not stamped) digit in the bottom right corner of the badge. Maybe a 1 or 2 or ...?

The number is etched in and will be about 1/16" tall if it's there. Add 20 to the number and that's supposed to be the year made. Unless Emerson used a negative number the date code would have begun in 1920 or 21 I think.

The 2 blade pedistal fan,
Looks like the 2 we had at work. They were Chelsea but they had Hoover motors on them and were 2 speed. They were great fans but one day they were gone, I later found out they junked them because of the open guard or so they said ( I think someone took them home).
