I got a pm stating that there was a post showing how to build a stator puller for the westy's, but I can't seem to find it...
I would like to start getting the hang of doing it because I would like to pull the stator out of my Rotaire..
Many thanks, Kyle

TJ Downey wrote it. He could send a version to you. I don't have scanning ability or his email.

It was a reprint from an earlier magazine, I'm pretty certain. It should say so near the title. I'd look in mine but I can't seem to find any of my current ones.
Kyle, if you have any of your old magazines, you might find it in one of them...I'm going to check mine but it's going to take a while...

| Sorry for the time lag, was on vacation. Good idea, but mine puts the load closest to the point of contact. Where the stator meets the housing. Attached Image (viewed 101 times):

| Usage. Pulling pressure at rim and not in the center where there is a chance of bowing out the bearing mount and warping the housing. Attached Image (viewed 97 times):

Went to the hardware store today, found some very nice plumbing supplies that would to the job perfectly. Also, I looked at the taps. They only seem to thread a hole and inch or so deep. I read in my old fan collectors magazine that you're supposed to thread it all the way to the back of the housing, but I don't see how this is possible with these taps...
Any suggestions? Would like to know soon because I don't want to throw $20 down the drain on these things..

| 1 inch is plenty Kyle. Remember to use tapping fluid not just thin oil. Valuable other tips abound, join the club. Last edited on Thu Jul 2nd, 2009 12:37 am by TJ Downey
