I was curious because I have a sixteen inch Galvin with the oscillator long gone and was wondering if it is possible to cast a new one? I have another Galvin fan with an oscillator and maybe it could be used as a reference? This 16 inch Galvin is the only one I've seen and would like to make it oscillate once more. Even mating another kind of oscillator to the back would make me happy..
Thanks, Kyle

This won't help with your particular fan but I thought I would answer the question.
The only re-pro oscillators I know of are some custom made kidney oscillators which are available from an AFCA member (I don't know who) for the right price (not cheap, but its worth it for what you get)
Aside from that I know of no other re-production oscillators. If it's just the gears that are shot you might be able to get new ones turned or find a parts fan.

| Dave Dalsin has the current batch of Kidney oscillator gearboxes. There have been several other reproductions of the kidney box in the past. Seems that so many kidneys need a transplant that there has been sufficient interest in making them. I know of no other gearboxes being made.

How do they make them? Do they cast them?

The bodies and pointer on top are cast bronze, the internal gears are machined. Beautiful workmanship! Earlier repro kidney gearboxes were cast in aluminum (below, from the gallery) and, I think, brass.Attached Image (viewed 64 times):

Kyle, I don't remember the exact costs but somewhere around $400 I believe and that may or may not include the internal gears. You can get the bronze castings as-cast or highly polished. A very well made gearbox. Dave Dalsin is the one making these and can tell you the cost details. Don't quote the price I mentioned. They are what they are and, if you have a kidney without a gearbox there isn't much of a choice on how to get the fan working again. If your original gears are good I think they can be used in the new housing.
Here, I found a post with all the details including costs and photos and contact phone # for Dave-
