A fan on ebay-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220445948974&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

Is described as being made of a "Combination of cast steel and aluminum construction". No way I said but, after looking carefully at the loop handle it looks to me like a silver metal showing under the paint (photo below). So I sent the seller question asking if a magnet would stick to the handle. Reply was "The handle is nonmagnetic".

I know there are bronze loop handles occasionally on GE Kidneys but what about other loop handles? I think this is the first I've seen of a "white metal" loop handle. I checked all my 12" AOUs, both later and earlier (I don't have a Form AF2 like this 1927 model) and all are cast iron. I know about the FORM AE1 (I think that's it) with the riveted on handle and that loop may be made of steel if not cast iron.

What's with this aluminum or zinc loop? Has anyone encountered one?

I did some 1930's era AOU's that parts were probably cast aluminum, I think it was a 1934.

Here is a three star brass loophandle, but I have never seen an aluminum one.

Did a member or guest here buy the fan pictured in first post? It went for a surprisingly high price ($153) but, if the loop handle is aluminum, it may be worth that. I'd be curious to know if the buyer knew about the aluminum handle and intends to polish it. Would love to see the final product.
