Hi everyone,
I need a shoulder screw for my 8" Emerson fan type 2240-B. The fan has the adjustable wheel type oscillator.
If no one has a spare, can someone please tell me what the thread size is? The shoulder screw needs to be a 3/16" diameter, X 3/16" shoulder length. I am not sure of the thread size.
I can order off McMaster-Carr, but need the thread size.
If anyone has an extra screw, please let me know.
I need one to complete this fan.
Thank you,
John

Thank you, Tom
The screw I need looks like it should be 3/16" shoulder diameter, 3/16" shoulder length, and about 1/8"-3/16" thread length. Is 8-32 the correct thread size?

Hey John,
Most of my little emersons are missing that shoulder screw. That is why I make my own out of an 8-32 screw and brass hobby tubing. Make them for the bigger ones too with 10-32 screws. I hope to do a write-up for the fan mag soon on how make those shoulder screws.
Anyhow, I did not find a 2240-B, but I did find a 2460-B with the adjustable oscillator wheel and shoulder screw. The screw thread is 8-32 X 3/32"H. Shoulder is 3/16"H X 3/16"D.
I've never used the McMaster shoulder screws because they didn't come close enough to the needed size. Perhaps they have improved their inventory.
Good luck and hope this helps.
When will you be coming to Harrison?

Tom,
Yes, that helps. I think that home made shoulder screw idea of yours is great. That way you can make the brass tubing the proper length every time.
I will look again at McMaster Carr. I saw something very close there today. You have to look under all the different types of shoulder screws they have to find a close match. Some types they carry do not come close to the size needed, while other type screws do.
Thank you,
John

John, do you still need the screw. I have some that fit the Emmy Jr. oscillator's, be glad to send ya one if still needed. I'm sure they are the same.

Gordon,
Yes, I am still in need of that oscillator screw. I found the screw I need is 3/16" shoulder diameter, 3/16" shoulder length, and 3/32" screw thread length.
If you have one one these, Yes, I would appreciate you sending me one.
Thank you,
John

The screw is the same for the 8 in and the various 10 in Adjustable oscillators
through the 6250 "golden jubilee" models.
