| Kenny, well done. Had I not just scored on a good 12" westy tank, I would have been on this one like white on rice!

I have only been involved with the AFCA for ten months. I have seen tanks in several AFCA members collections and have been impressed by the aura of strength and power the fan gives off. This one appears to have had my name on it and I am really looking forward to owning and learning about this type of fan. My son lives in Plano and he is going to pick the fan up from Jerry.
Jerry and I had a great chat Friday about this fan. This is one of the things which has impressed me about the members of the AFCA. I have called several folks and said "Hi! My name is Kenny. I just joined the AFCA. Do you have a minute to talk about fans?" Everyone has taken the time to talk with me and I have learned something during every conversation. So far, it's been a great experience.

Well, I guess, Jerry's pancake had / has my name on it.
I'm so pleased to own my first pancake. I suppose owning a pancake is obligatory at some point for most fan collectors.
Living in New Zealand, we have to pay a small fortune to get fans shipped over here. Given the expense involved (our dollar is weaker than the US$ too) I would much prefer to deal with an AFCA person such as Jerry, than an anoymous ebay seller. Excellent packing, the fan arrived in great shape.
To that end, I must say Jerry was a friendly and helpful person to deal with. I too gave him a call in Dallas. A week or so later I checked the phone bill, hoping the toll wasn't going to be too much. Thinking we had spoke for 5 mins, it turned out we chatted for 19mins! (Didn't cost much though).
Anyway, this is BST, not an ebay feedback page but I just thought I'd echo the comments above and say its great for the newer people to have the friendly folk here to deal with.
Cheers from Auckland

| Shane, we'd love to have you as a member. I know we have members down in Australia, but you might be our first ever New Zealander.

Jerry, you mispelled Minnasota, the correct spelling is Minnisoda. No spelling bees for you Jerry.
Just load up another tumbler with some Dr. Pepper and fermented potatoes, throw in some cubes and who cares..right?

Thanks Steve, for your kind words.
You've probably been asked this before but have the site administrators ever considered a more flexible membership scheme?
I'm only holding off because I don't feel like paying two subcriptions within the space of a few months - even if I do still get the magazines for all of 2009.
I have every intention though, of signing up for 2010 and it would be awesome to come over for Fanfair too. We'll have to wait and see on that one.
Apart from being a very small country, another reason why there might be so few kiwis registered is because we are a former British colony, most fans imported to NZ would have come from the UK and some from Australia. I suspect, for a variety of reasons, that not as many have survivied the test of time.
The yanks sure built them big and strong!! My pancake and BMY make my other fans look a bit pathetic. They all have their own character though!
A collecting goal I have for 2010 (and part of me feels crazy for even contemplating this) is I would love to import an Eskimo King Cobweb over here. Even thinking about the shipping cost is scary. Not fussed over whether its a 2 or 3 winger. Maybe I'm just dreaming....

| The Board has discussed membership based on a 12 month, versus calendar year, renewal. But it is a lot of paperwork. Just hold off until December and send your dues in for calendar year 2010. We'll be happy to have you as a member.
