Is there a method of nickle plating a blade so it will not end up being out of balance? I know this topic has been discussed in the past and the answer has been ...... No Way......but is there anyone with new experience?
I have a perfectly balanced blade with new wings that I don't want to mess up with the plating process. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Terry, I think the main problem has been with chrome plating, and NOT nickel.
I know Jim Lindsey had a blade chrome plated and the plater did not rotate
the blade during the plating process, and yes, it was grossly out of balance.
The blade was plated hanging vertically, and it plated heavy on the lower wings.
Maybe if the blade had been suspended horizontally, the plating would have been
more evenly distributed... Or if the part had been occasionally rotated...
Nickel plating can be done by hobbyists, and I am surprised that you haven't
attempted this yourself... Nickel plating is a lot easier than chrome plating.
I don't think there is a big investment in what is needed, for nickel.
