| Wow, sad story. I'll stick with my nice safe antique fans. No plastic fans for me, ever!

CHINESE MANUFACTURING IS NOT CHINA'S FAULT.
They have no control over what they produce or how they produce it. It is the American management that sets and enforces the standards. Goods are manufactured in China only because workers there will work for lower wages than equivalent American workers will do for the exact same job. The difference means more money for corporate fat cats, not a lower product retail price.

You said it man!! I absolutely HATE plastic fans (excluding ceiling fans), even Panasonics and whatnot.Last edited on Fri Jan 8th, 2010 08:49 pm by Nikolas Mika

| Thanks for posting this article Richard! :) Makes me upset to think a company would put so many people at risk when they admitted they knew about the possible hazard and didn't do anything to alert the public

| as far as that chinese-made motor is concerned, there is nothing to be surprised about. Remember the case of Pete Moulds where his chinese extension cord exploded when connected to a D.C ceiling fan through a rectifier. This only indicates the pathetically poor quality of chinese electrical goods Last edited on Sun Jan 10th, 2010 06:40 am by Peter Chester
