12” GE “Kidney” oscillating Fan. I got this fan from Steve Cunningham many years ago, and I remember him telling me that Paul Graves had done the gear box repair and servicing. The fan is in mostly outstanding original condition. The original paint and switch markings are excellent, and nicely “patina-ed.” There is little paint loss. It has some white paint splatters and a strip of old masking tape on it (the fate of every old fan is to dry house paint). Those blemishes are removed easily, of course, and you can see that the paint would clean and polish very well. The brass is all there and it appears the original lacquer is intact -- never been stripped or polished. The correct, original 6-wing Kidney-specific blade is good and straight, as is the original guard. The original head wire looks like it is in excellent condition. The power cord has been replaced with a rubber one. The gear box has been repaired from a crack, but the crack was up near the motor housing where it’s hard to see and expertly repaired. The fan runs well on three speeds and the oscillator engages and works correctly. It has the correct slow-speed motor windings to match the 6-wing blade. There's a little play in the front bearing, so if you wanted to run it a lot you should swap in a new bearing - easy fix. The rear bearing should be fine, but I haven’t opened up this nice original fan. GE didn’t make many 6-wing fans, and this is a good example of an early oscillator. $475 includes shipping to lower 48.
Thanks.

could i purchase this fan from you. if i send you a down payment would you put in layaway for me. last year i had to sell my kidney oscillator because of money reasons. the gentleman who purchased it from me was grand and i know that it has a good home and he likes it. i would like to use this fan a lot to keep me cool and you suggested that the bearing be replaced. due to an injury i have a bad hand and i cannot replace the bearing and i don't know how to. also i have a heart condition and i would like to use this fan to keep me cool and to make some noise so i can sleep thanks for reading my email.

| That's only the seond six wing Kidney I have ever owned. I remember the mid 90's at DeSoto. Just before the auction began, someone put a six blade in the auction. It brought $650 then. If it were DC, I'd own it in a heartbeat.
