Hi everyone,
I'd like to share with you one of my family heirlooms, a Vornado 35E1-1 with 22" blades. My father bought it when I was a baby, and now we're both nearly 50! Other than a line cord and head cord replacement ~25 years ago this baby has been trouble free and used on a regular basis each summer.
I also have two tabletop oscillators: a GE from 1927 and a Hunter C-12 from the '40s.

Your fan is from 1956. I have one as well and the 25E. Your fan has the original paint as mine doesnt but both of ours seem to be missing the "V" that is found on the motor cover much like my 25E in the last picture. These window fans are the absolute best in my opinion, they move just about the same amount of air in both directions unlike their competitors, mainly the 18" and 22" Hunter Zephair fans. The motor is least restrictive, especially on the 35E and the early 25E window fans. Not much is known about these fans especially since few exsist today, I have yet to find a patent number on the fan and any information about them. Great machines though and serious air movers. | Here is my 35E1-1, needs restoration. This monster really cranks over and the air output is incredible, just wish it looked better. Attached Image (viewed 278 times):

Your fan is from 1956.
That's nice to know. It means my father (r.i.p.) bought it used in 1959 or 1960.
Looks like the B25E2-1 lacks the fully enclosed motor. When I opened my 35E to replace the upper cord the windings etc. looked brand new. It's a 6 pole motor BTW.

The newer 25E has a vented motor, the older one which looks exactly like the 35E has an enclosed motor. Sorry about your father. Last edited on Tue Sep 29th, 2009 04:49 pm by Rob Duffy

I was correcting my post (to B25E2-1) at the same time you were posting.
Dad died in 1971.

Hey Tim, your 35E could also be from 57 or 58 as well, these were produced only in Vornado's last years
If you ever, by some small chance of fate, decide to sell it, I'd be interested

| keep your eyes peeled i have seen two 22" versions on ebay in the last 18 months. they are big and the same size and weight as the Hunter Zephairs. at one point the 22" came in a 4 blade version like a Hunter but the artwork shows the blade turning counterclockwise facing the front of the fan. i am lucky to have one of these vornado's in the 17 1/2" size with paint that is almost mint and the "V" is present. The Green & blue color matches the twin convertibles i have in 6" and 8" sizes. Recently i have seen the single turnabout window fans in this color scheme as well, but 2 speeds/ The twins are three speeds.

Are you sure you are talking about the same fan? I have never seen a 4-wing Vornado. The 17 1/2" fan you are talking about is probably the 18" Vornado M25E1-1 like I posted above.

Hey Tom, you must be thinking of a latter Two Guys model made by Frigid, because OA Sutton never produced a 4 bladed fan

wow look at how close those fans cases look to a 50s chevy's steering wheel!
Is "case" the correct term for the outer housing of the fan blades on box and desk fans?
