Have early 1900s Century Model 101 looking for a good home.
I have this beautiful old electric fan that does not work and needs repairs. I do not possess the skills to do these repairs and so rather than dismantle it for scrap I thought that perhaps someone with the repair skill might want it.
I partially disassembled it and discovered that the oscillating armature has been disabled. I was using it simply as a stationary fan until recently when it stopped working all together.

I am curious as to what it looks like, do you have pictures? I am definitely interested, what state is this coming from?

No I don't have pictures. I could do some but my camera is an 8 megapixel so they will be too large to afix to a post.
It is very old, black, about 16" tall, weighs about 12#. Has the minimalist fan guard of the era.
I'm in Portland OR.
I'll try to figure out how to get the file size down and if I can I'll add a pic to the next post

Well Rob, It is a bit hard to believe that someone is going to send you a brass bladed fan of any type for free that doesn't know you, much less some one just poppin up with a free fan to anyone who wants it. Don't get me wrong I reckon it could happen but, not likely. Welcome to the real world.

Well it turns out you are quite wrong. The whole world is not populated by people trying to scam others.
I've a story to illustrate my point. I got into line at the Philly airport a year ago and forgot to put my $80 Leatherman pocket knife in my checked bag. The airport personnel were not at all helpful and there was no mail-it kiosk in the terminal. I went up to a skycap and offered him my knife, two $20 bills, and my business card. I said would you please mail this to me? He said yes he would. When I reached my gate my companion heard my story and looked at me in disbelief. He said "not only did you lose your knife, dummy, you gave a stranger 40 bucks to take it from you". He got quite a laugh out of it.
A week later my knife showed up.
BTW - I sent Rob that beautiful brass bladed fan via UPS today.

He actually mailed your knife? That is impressive.

Kurt, I am sorry, reckon I'm too use to people of that caliber. Please except my apology. It's just in my world this is not common happening with strangers. And your right, I don't trust people right off the bat, they've got to earn my trust. I don't have tire tracks my back because I was lay'in out in the the highway.

Apology accepted. It is likely true, from your more knowledgeable perspective, that it would be foolhardy for me to give away such a fan and perhaps naive for someone to trust that I might. Honestly (and perhaps luckily for Rob) I had no idea what an antique fan is worth to collectors. As is it was worth nothing to me. I actually started to dismantle it for scrap when it occurred to me that it was quite beautiful and that for some it might be desirable. Later I thought I'd probably made a mistake but by then the deal was underway. Far worse for my self respect to back out than to have profited more richly.
Rob, if you're reading, I truly hope you will be able to repair the fan and get much enjoyment out of it.

Even if I can't repair it I will definitely enjoy it.
