Whats the best way to polish brass acorn nuts so that they don't unscrew during polishing with a bench buffer. I polished one yesterday but I noticed it kept unscrewing, luckily I didn't lose it! :)

Buff it with it screwed onto a threaded rod, use a nut threaded onto the rod first thightened against the acorn to lock it in place.

Hold it the other way so that the buffer causes it to screw onto the holding screw instead of off.

Also, be careful about overbuffing and rounding out those nice nut edges.
