Is this Signal fan in this link in one of your catalogs? If so, would you please post what year catalog? I actually passed on one just like it at an auction some time back. My goal has been to try and find a Signal fan that dates before your catalogs back to the mid 20s. This would of been the timeline that the Menominee history on Darryl's website stated Signal began manufacturing fans. So far...I can't find a shred of evidence on the web, gallery,or in my collection...that they did. Fact is...I can't find a Signal fan from 1919 to the earliest catalog you have of 29. The good news is I have about exhausted all avenues on the web on this issue. If anyone has a dirt old Signal fan that appears to be from mid 20s...please come forward with it. Hopefully, this fan is not in your catalogs.

Hey Russ , I have this info, a collection of Signal catalogs spanning 1929 thru 1956.. I know this ain't BST but I got the info in 2 volumes for less than $4.00 / catalog post paid. That will date your Coolspot and any other Signal fans you happen to run across. happy fan collector

Thanks Geoff, but all I am interested in is what is the earliest Signal fan...29 or 25. And if it is 25 or 29...I would please like to see it. The facts are...I wouldn't know the earliest Signal fan if my face was close enough to it for it to bite me in the nose.

I have seen the pictured Signal fan and looking thru the earlier catalogs tells me it's in the '3o , '31 , or'32 catalog if they exist somewhere. It isn't in the '29 with that unique switch , which was also used by Wagner on an 8" BB/SC non oscillator. But , all of the fans & there were not many in the '29 catalog , sported 2-ring s-wire cages. In the '33 catalog which is the next one I have , the cages were all 3-ring.   Hope that helps , maybe not much , but a little.      happy fan collector

Thanks. I had some private message chat with Loren recent. He thought he may have some material on Signal from 25-26, but felt what he had wasn't much.

Frankly, I'm not a big Signal nut, but, very curious as to what their first line of fans were. Signal from a business sense....was its own company established in 19. I have no proof yet...but my IMPRESSION is they didn't make fans until late 20s. I can't find a shred of evidence that they did. There is strong evidence Tideman took fan and motor business with him to Cairo, Ill. in 19. I have seen no documentation to support Signal not being able to make fans from 19-25. And I have not seen any evidence yet that they began producing fans in 25. I hope Loren or someone can dig something up to prove different. You would think if Signal WAS producing fans in 25...you of ALL people Geoff...would have it. :D
