As a final reminder to those on the West Coast, Annie and I will be hosting a Northern California fan meet this Saturday, October 17th.  Many of the regulars will be present as well as some new faces.  Alan Wilms will be there with his usual assortment of incredible fans.  Terry Eisenbeisz, Chris Mays, Evan Atkinson, Steve Stephens, Hansen Kwok, and others are expected.  Also, we expect one West Coast member looking to liquidate most of his 35-plus year collection ready to take buyer requests.  Everyone is welcome.  We only ask that you call or shoot us an email so we can plan lunch accordingly.  Weather for Saturday is expected to be sunny and in the mid 70's.

It's worth a 200-300 mile drive just to see and photograph the fans Alan Willms is bringing.

I'll be there with at least 25 good fans for sale plus 5-10 for display. I hope anyone who is on the fence about attending will show up. There are going to be a bunch of really quality fans to see plus a good assortment of fans for sale.

I'll be bringing my Variac, Kill-A-Watt meter, maybe my strobe so we can do some tinkering and be able to run the fans at the voltage they were designed to run at. Bring a guest if you know anyone who might have an interest in old fans.

Hey Rick, will you be pouring any cast iron in your foundry?

I wish the foundry was up and running.  Unfortunately, for reasons that will be apparent, things are suspended temporarily.

Thanks for all the good wishes when I was in the hospital the 2nd

half of July!!  Hated missing fan fair.  Now I am feeling much better,

but must still watch how much stuff I lift or drag around.  (Thanks

Steve S in particular for physical help moving stuff around.)

I am welcoming folks to come by my San Francisco storage units

on your way to or from the meet at Rick's.  I have 2 (two) 48

feet long units with WAY to much good stuff.  I MUST get out of one

unit ASAP and help moving stuff around, consolidating space, (and

finding Huge numbers of parts fans and parts you can't live without)

would be Greatly appreciated.  There are at least 400 fans or partial

fans, about 30 console radios, at least twice as many cathedral or

"tombstone" style radios ...  Also 50 + fhp induction motors pre 1910

through 50's.  I can't stand to see 60 plus year old stuff wasted by

being turned to scrap.

PS
Vacuum cleaners, mixers, (and Christmas lights - lots of extra pre 1940

strings and bulbs).

Since the economy tanked last year, the company I work for decided they could do whatever they wanted with their employees and cancelled all scheduled days off. All of us are on call every day, no schedule to plan with. Therefore, I won't know until Friday afternoon if I have Saturday off. If I do, I'll do my best to be there.

Bump. Meet is tomorrow and not to late to start driving or flying in.

My pile of fans for sale is still growing as I pull a few more from my collection. I'll probably end up with close to 30 good fan looking for new homes.
