I'm restoring this fan for someone and I don't know the make or year but, I was hoping someone here could tell me how to remove the screw on the base? I've tried WD40 with no use, I am destorying it more then anything. (as you can tell its a little beatup)

Is there a nut under the screw? Get a larger and good fitting screwdriver. Clean the paint out of the screw slot. Get a helper. Hold the screwdriver tightly and push down as hard as you can in the screw slot. Use a crescent wrench to help turn the screw. You may need to hold the nut below base if there is one.

Use heat to heat the screw and threads. Put a strong torque on the screw and hold it until, hopefullly, the screw breaks loose. Use a penetrant on the screw. You'll have to scrape away some paint maybe so the liquid can seep to the threads. Good luck. Sometimes things don't want to do what we want them to. Don't bugger up the screw slot or you are out of luck and have to go to "plan B". But, then, you'll have to figure out exactly what Plan B will be.

No, there's not a nut under the base it looks like a rivet, under the screw there is a lock washer though
