The recent Tideman Electric of Cairo, Il. ebay fan auction is now done. What I found very interesting is that fan WAS an early Tideman Electric Mfg. Co. fan. So far...there has been no response to my past posts regarding proof that Signal Electric Mfg. Co. produced fans from 19 up to 29. If someone has proof, please come forward!

Henry Tideman went to Cairo simply taking the fan and motor business with him the way it appears? What I wanted to show was a comparison of the quality of the Tideman Cairo Menominee oscillating fans from serial 21,142 of the ebay fan to Dave Dalsin's example serial 211,641. You be the judge.

I'd say the Tideman Menominee serial #21,142 is a much better made fan. It has cage struts instead of the cage being screwed right to the housing as the 211,641 is, and has a grab handle and tougher looking made oscillating halo and of course a brass embossed info tag other then the cheap aluminum lithoed tag of the 211,641. But this is just a comparison using photos for reference, there may be more that are not visible to my eye and, then again what do I know. I only own one Menominee of the hour glass style that was not manufactured by Tideman but, Menominee.

Also , the 12" Menominee fan has an iron motor housing while the 10" osc. has a pot metal housing. Both I think use pot metal on the gearbox. There's several styles of the 10" oscillator and one elusive model with a cast iron motor housing and osc. gearbox. I've only seen this fan show up twice , once at Denver Barnard's house and again in a collection that I bought years back which I have kept for the reference  group of fans.
