For those of you that enjoy fan history and especially Emerson fan History this book is a must.  I am out of town and found a second hand shop selling books and this is one they had.  This book opens up the world of Emerson Electric from its origin to a century later.  You walk through the years step by step meeting the people both name and photos who rode the Emerson business rollercoaster of highs and lows.  You will get to know the dedicated men such as Herbert Finch who was hired as a babysitter for the Parkers, named one of his sons Parker Finch, became president of Emerson after Thomas Meston commited suicide.  That's right in 22...Tom Meston brewed a cyanide cocktail using Potassium cyanide straight for the Emerson company store.  The cyanide was used in the motor case curing process.  He was dead in minutes right on his office desk.  His own brothers(Charles Meston) rants played a part in pushing Tom over the edge.  All the details surrounding Meston's death and Emerson's financial hardships during this turbulent time are in this book.  That's right...people think of the roaring 20s.....the market took a dump in 20, unemployemt soared to 14%, fan sales reduced by......half!  You will get to know the leaders and those employed by Emerson that made it happen and those that didn't.  The loyal and the fly by nights.  Plus....lots of pictures that will give you a visual to go along with the names. Plus numerous pictures of the Emerson product line through the century.  For those that think times a bad now, get over it, this market rollercoaster has been going on as long as there has been silly human beings and a market. :D

Someone sent me a message asking if I have a price on this book.  This was not a crime. :D  You can get it on Amazon when available.  I dig this book and wanted to share some of its contents.  When I get done obsessing in it, then I may auction it.

Fantastic information Russ. Wow, what a tragedy for the Meston family. How large and epic, yet at the same time, doesn't this show us just how insignificant we are in the face of time?

Loren brought up the Thomas Meston suicide in past post. He may of got the information from this book? There is much more in it to keep your interest.

The earth is said to be some 4.5 billion years old? There, that should make you feel insignificant.
