I have to say, I don't typically get all mushy over plastic fans but those Sanyo-made Sears fans are an exception. I remember seeing those fans on sale in the 1970's and in use in the 80's. I really like the clean lines, along with the green transparent blades and the "atomic" SR logo in the cage medallion. Being as I liked the styling and that these were fans out of my childhood, I wanted to get one.

I got myself one of these earlier this year and have been using it as a bedroom fan, and it does that job VERY well. It runs very smooth and quiet with a very nice breeze, on low speed it just makes this very soft whirring sound. The four-pole PSC motor is high slip, much like in an Emerson 77646, it almost acts like a six-pole motor.

As I mentioned those are Sanyo made, according to someone I spoke to these fans were made in 1977 and the Sanyo version was called the "Dynamic Wide". These are VERY good fans.

If I do stumble across a Dynamic Wide model in Aus I would be happy:D.I also noticed that these fans are three years younger than one of my blue Sanyo's one of my blue Sanyos made in 1974 The one made in 1974 is at the far right. The amber Sanyo is made in 1980. the blue Sanyo in the middle is made in 1976 possibly?.

that base is the same as my Frigid 1978 12" except the buttons are graduated shades of blue. the fan was an OSHA model with 3 wire cord. Cant see the motor housing but i have been pressing those buttons for 30 years....

I am assuming when you mean you have been pressing it for 30 years, it still runs?
